Six months and growing...

Elise had her 6 month appointment today and is growing SO well! She is going to be our tall and skinny baby...she's beginning the "thinning out" process. She weighed in at 17lbs, 2 0z, which is only about a 1/2 lb larger than her brother and sister at this age. (she started 2 lbs bigger!) She's going to be our TALL one because she measured at 27 1/2 inches, which puts her in the 95th percentile for height. (Avery was 25 inches, Isabella was 24....but, Elise started out 1 1/2-3 inches longer than them, too)


She got one immunization today...and will spread out the remaining 4 that she needs between now and 1 year. And, another big event in the VDM house- Avery got an immunization today, as well. He was such a big tough guy, he didn't even cry! When it was over, he said, "It just hurt a little bit, that's okay mom. It's not so bad!" Silly guy! For those who know us/Avery, this is a huge event because he has not been immunized since 12 months, since he had a HORRIFIC reaction that landed him in the hospital for about a week, undergoing about every test imaginable, including a spinal tap, after he ran a high fever for 9 days, and stopped eating and drinking. We've debated on and off about what to do, but finally decided that since he is older, and his immune system is stronger now that he's 2, we'd go ahead and have him immunized, since the one that he was lacking is not the suspected culprit of his trouble...that's a whole other issue we'll have to face come kindergarten, but we've got a few years to worry about that.

Now we just pray that everything sits right with his little body this time. It probably wasn't the most genious of timings...Terry has an electrical code update class tonight...so I'm home alone with two youngins' who got shots today...ones that have been known to make them cranky. Fun times!
